References & Credit

The source material used to build the genetics behind this calculator.

This calculator's mutation and inheritance data for the Turquoise Parakeet (Neophema Pulchella) was compiled into a master reference document, itself drawn from the sources below. Where an original author or publisher could not be confirmed from the source file, only the document title is listed.

A Guide to Neophema and Neopsephotus Genera and Their Mutations

Dr Alain Campagne. ABK Publications, 2008 (English edition). The single most detailed published treatment of this genus. Used throughout the mutation guides for inheritance modes, species attribution and legacy naming — including the Violet Factor's presence in N. pulchella (pp. 65, 109), the "Faded (Isabel)" naming for this species (p. 110), the unresolved status of Dun Fallow (pp. 75, 90, 104–106), and the classification of Red-fronted and Red-bellied birds as a variation rather than a primary mutation (pp. 77–78, 122–123).

Mutations of Australian Parrots

Stan Sindel. Avicultural Society of New South Wales, 1996. Cited in the Red Suffusion guide for its direct statement that the red-fronted / orange-bellied Turquoisine is not a mutation and not genetical inheritance, but a colour variation produced by selective breeding.
